4. Use Keyword Research To Brainstorm Sub-Topics For Categories

Now you need to figure out what to specifically market in your “niche.” I need to find some sub-categories for my “music-themed art and decorations” niche.

Using Michael Brown’s Niche Blitzkrieg I learned about Google Adwords and the Google Adwords: Keyword Tool. This is designed to help you research the best keywords to use in order to show up (a.k.a. “rank”) on the first page of Google search results so that people don’t have to go deep into the search results to find you.

I found lots of keywords and longer keyword phrases (sometimes referred to as long-tail keywords) related to art and decorations, such as: wrought iron wall decor, abstract art prints, art sculpture, canvas wall art, outdoor wall art … so, more specific kinds of art. Write down several keywords related to your search and then go on to the next step.
