Getting Started: From Scratch to Launch

5. Pick Five

Next, after studying some successful affiliate marketing web sites, I decided to pick 5 keywords/phrases to use as categories to build an email campaign around. I plan to build the web site content (posts) as emails I will send out at regular intervals to folks who subscribe to my newsletter. These will also be posted to my “friends” and “followers” on Facebook, Twitter and Google +1. (The emails will be copies of the source code of each post… more on that later!)

Choose Carefully

When narrowing down keywords/phrases into 5 main categories, try to choose a subject for each weekday that you can write a post about. This seems like a reasonable schedule for adding content and, at the same time, reaching out to your readers without overwhelming their inboxes. Realistically, I will likely do my weekday posts every other work day – so one week I’ll post on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the next week I’ll post on Tuesday and Thursday. Think of these categories as 5 file folders where you can organize and group the products you plan to market.

My Five

  • Home Decor
  • Office Decor
  • Outdoor Decor
  • Fashion Finds for Men & Women
  • Fashion Finds for Children
